The Julianstown Youth Orchestra are currently looking for young musicians who would be interested in performing with the orchestra particularly on the following instruments:

  • Cello
  • Double Bass
  • Clarinet

The orchestra provides an instrument hire scheme and will also help with the locating of a teacher in the area of the instrument. If you are interested you can check out www.littlemusicmakers.ie or contact the orchestra at julianstownyouthorchestra@gmail.com.

It is a great opportunity to work as a team with other musicians and under the conducer Fergus Shiel.

A musical Interlude!!

On Friday morning ( 23/11/12) the first year music class was treated to a master class in the cello by one of our own students Jack Mitchell. Jack brought in his cello as we are currently learning about the string family in the orchestra and told us the name of the strings and about all the different parts of the cello.

We were treated to excerpts from the William Tell Overture, The Pink Panther and the theme music to HALO!!! Jack also performs with the Julianstown Youth Orchestra.

The class were very impressed with the cello and surprised at the level of sound it could make. Here is a picture of Jack with the cello.

Here are some of the other string players in the 1st year class:

  • Rory Bentley on Violin
  • Jack Mitchell on Cello
  • Johnathon Niall on Guitar

In 2009, they released “Leave The World Behind” with Laidback Luke and Deborah Cox and in 2010, Swedish House Mafia signed a record deal with UMG’s Polydor Records (formerlyPolygram) after a fallout from previous record label EMI, due to differing ideas. “Discovery” – Album Cover

Info:

Daft Punk is an electric duo of French DJs. They were very popular inFranceduring the large French house movement in the 1990’s. They have a very unique style and usually dress with robotic suits and helmuts. The album I chose is “Discovery” and was released in March of 2001. It peaked at number 2 in theUK. The track “One More Time” was a huge club hit.

My favourite song from the album is “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”. I think that this album is great and a unique style of techno/electronic and I really recommend it.
